Frequently asked questions

What is Deftbox? +

Deftbox is a native macOS utility that adds a Finder extension, automatic input-method switching, per-app and per-website input rules, mouse customization (click bindings, gestures, smooth scrolling), and a searchable clipboard manager.

Which macOS versions are supported? +

macOS 26.0 and later. Older versions are not supported.

Where can I download Deftbox? +

Deftbox is available exclusively on the Mac App Store. Search for “Deftbox” or use the download link on this site.

Why does Deftbox need Accessibility / Input Monitoring permission? +

Accessibility is required to switch the system input source from the main app. Input Monitoring is required for the mouse event tap that powers click bindings, gestures, and smooth scrolling. The Finder extension uses the Finder Sync entitlement.

Does Deftbox collect any data? +

No. Deftbox runs entirely on your device — there are no analytics, ads, or telemetry servers, and we never collect data about how you use the app. Purchases are handled by Apple through the Mac App Store, so we never see your payment details either. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Is the Finder extension safe? +

The extension is sandboxed and only acts on items you explicitly invoke through it. It is bundled and signed together with the main app and goes through Apple's App Store review.

How do I uninstall Deftbox? +

Quit Deftbox, then drag Deftbox.app from Applications to the Trash. Deftbox is sandboxed, so its data lives in its container under Library/Containers if you want to remove that as well.

How do I report a bug or request a feature? +

Email us at support@deftbox.app. We read every report.

Is Deftbox free? +

Deftbox is a paid app sold through the Mac App Store. The current price is always shown on its App Store page.

Where can I find the privacy policy and terms? +

See the Privacy and Terms links in the footer.

How do I get a refund? +

Purchases are processed by Apple, so refunds are handled by Apple rather than by us. Go to reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with the Apple Account you used for the purchase, and request a refund for Deftbox.
